How I Sell My Used Fishing Rods & Reels
If you are going to pay for shipping like I do, you don’t want to get all of your soft plastics and sell to ten different guys because that’s ten different shipping costs that you will have to pay.
- Sell In Bulk
I prefer to sell in bulk. I want to get everything together and try to find that one or two guys that want to buy everything. This is also a great way to get a better deal. This way, you can get it gone with just one shipping cost.
- Shipping Cost
Now, when you sell in bulk, you will have to keep in mind the weight. When you are selling fifteen or twenty pounds of plastic, that’s going to be expensive to ship. This might cost you twenty or twenty-five bucks to ship.
But it’s less of a hassle when you are dealing with just one guy. So, I would recommend that you get all your stuff together and then put a bulk sale up.
- Finding Potential Customers
First, I will get everything together and look for potential customers. I will start by asking my local friends, you know, friends that live around me or somebody that want to meet me driving.
That way, you can avoid shipping right off the bat. If none of your local friends are interested in anything that you are selling, then you can go on social media and put a sale post on your timeline.
- Calling Back Old Customers
If you have been selling stuff for years, you will have a good group of people that will always be interested in what you are selling. They will usually be interested in whatever it is that you are selling.
This works out for both of you. You are giving them a good deal; you sell the fishing gear, and everything works out just great.
- Facebook & Instagram
Facebook is a good place to put up a tackle sale post. You can also put a sale post on Instagram. This way, hopefully, you can find somebody that you know, and it doesn’t have to be close to you since you are already willing to pay to ship.
However, it’s better to sell to somebody that you know. If you happen to know a lot of people online, there is a high chance that you can easily sell all your stuff.
Here is a couple of fishing gear buying and selling groups that I would recommend.
It has over 60k members, and you can just post your stuff, follow all the rules, and have over 60k people seeing your post. You have a good chance that you will sell it on the site.
From there, you can go to Bass Fishing Yard Sale. This is a great place to sell Bass Pro gears. The only downside is that the admins are slow. They will take a day or two to actually approve your picture and post.
So, if you are looking to sell in a hurry, sometimes you have to wait for them to approve your post on the bass fishing yard sale.
